Florida Popular Locations For 1 Storey Homes

The population of Florida is exploding, and it isn't due solely to snowbirds and retirees. Florida has become the center of entrepreneurism, corporate headquarters, and ever more tourism. Virtual tours of celebrity mansions have inspired those moving to the Sunshine State to seek out their own dream homes.

What kind of homes will you find in Florida? There are houses with Spanish and Mediterranean influence. There are houses that look like beach cottages or bungalow s [sic.] Some houses were built to be 1 storey home s [sic.] However, there's more to Florida's architecture than meets the eye.

The Florida Lifestyle

No one packs up a whole house and moves hundreds of miles away just for laughs. They have new jobs, or they're moving closer to Mom and Dad. However, the whole idea of Florida is one of sunshine, white sands, pink drinks with umbrellas, seafood, and Disney. If you're going to move somewhere, it might as well be a place of dreams, yes?

That aura carries over into Florida houses. There are palatial spreads offering thousands of square feet for sale as well as cozy little cottages and two storey homes available according to your needs and tastes. Is there a reason Florida houses are built like they are?

Hurricanes

Yes. The word Florida is associated with hurricanes much like the word Colorado is associated with snow. Over the years, building codes have gotten tougher and more exacting. For instance, impact-proof windows, hurricane-winds doors, roofing, and other building practices are upgraded, so to speak, each year as the state researches damages and what it would take to prevent them.

The cities lowest on the hurricane chart are Orlando and Ocala. These cities are sought for their ranch-style homes including a main floor master because their cost of living is lower than other Florida cities. Both offer plenty of arts and culture, entertainment, good food, as well as good schools, lots of work, and a laid back lifestyle

Stairs

Not only seniors have trouble climbing stairs. Plenty of young people have arthritis or sporting injuries, making climbing stairs a painful experience. Such home buyers seek out one storey houses with a main floor master.

There are several reasons why ranch-style homes are popular. The lack of stairs is perhaps the most important. However, it takes more money to cool a two-storey house. Warm air rises. An A/C placed on “North Pole” might cool the top story enough to be comfortable, but the downstairs might as well be a meat locker. Single storey homes fit the bill, pardon the pun.

Florida cities popular for their ranch-style houses include Mims and Virginia Park. Mims is just outside Titusville, while Virginia Park is a neighborhood in Tampa. Mims offers a good case for livability, with a small population and affordable homes. Cape Canaveral is nearby. Some of the ranch-style homes resemble bunaglow s[sic.]

Virginia Park offers home buyers not only low crime but well-rated schools, affordable homes, lots of work, as well as Tampa attractions. Both cities offer a number of single storey homes in the form of ranch-style houses, Craftsman houses, and bungalows.

Seniors

The dream of many seniors is to move to Florida. They envision no more cutting grass, fixing the roof, shoveling snow, or gridlocked traffic. They'll enjoy no stress. The living is easy, and the scenery is exquisite. There will be plenty of like-minded seniors to whom to talk as they hit the beach or with whom to go fishing.

To answer this dream, seniors can either buy their own bungalow or single storey house in the city of their dreams, or they can enjoy the socialization and amenities of a 55+ community. These can be found in St. Cloud and Boynton Beach. Retirement communities in both cities offer clubhouses consisting of several thousand square feet. Inside these clubhouses are located theaters hosting Broadway shows, classes in anything you can imagine, restaurants, pickleball courts, social rooms, and more. Outdoor amenities include first-class golf courses, deep-sea fishing, and walking in nature preserves.

Single storey homes feature mid-century modern as well as Mediterranean design with Bahama shutters and tile roofs. Some are even pink. Most offer open floor plans with no stairs to bother seniors.
